65 Red Roses

The Federation of Canadian Artists will be unveiling a painting created by 65 professional artists in honour of Eva Markvoort. Eva suffered from cystic fibrosis, and received a double lung transplant. But her body rejected the organs, and she died on March 27 at the age of 25.

One can simply google '65 Red Roses' or Eva's name, and you will soon be touched by the film, you tube videos, blogs, and much more...all of it providing a window into the life of a young woman suffering from this terminal genetic disease.

In honour of Eva, 65 artists have each created an 8"x10" oil or acrylic painting containing one red rose. These will be assembled together for an event on May 15th. The final art will be donated to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and auctioned off by Maynards on June 16th, 2010. For more information visit www.maynards.com

Lalita is honoured to be a part of this gift on behalf of Eva and all the other young people suffering from cystic fibrosis.

UPDATE: The evening in honour of Eva was a tremendous success!! The poster of all 65 red roses is here, and can be purchased for $65 from the CCFF (Canadian Cystic Fybrosis Foundation).

ART CRITIQUES!

The critiques are still free! On the last Monday of each month from 7-9pm, artists are invited to bring a selection of their original visual art work to the City of Langley Library 20399 Douglas Crescent (across from Opus) to participate in art critiques facilitated by local professional artist, Lalita Hamill. It is a relaxed and supportive environment open to all ages and art appreciators. You do NOT need to register beforehand.

The remaining sessions will be in Sept, Oct & Nov 2010.
