The Elements of Design
Cost: CAN$300.00

Date: Oct 14 – 28 (3 Tuesdays)
Time: 9:30am – 4:30pm
Location: Centre for Peace
1825 16th Ave. West, Vancouver

Course Description:
A prominent juror with the Federation of Canadian Artists once stated: “If a painting succeeds it is usually because of two things, composition and values.” Lalita has taken this message and created a fun and informative workshop with a balance between information, analyzing famous works of art, demonstrations, practice time, and instructor feedback in order to determine how to best compose a compelling and memorable art piece that has that extra ‘I don’t know why, but I like it!” However, as the creator, you will understand why. The focus will be on representational art (i.e. you can recognize images in the painting) and the use of photographs; it also includes extensive handouts for later use.

Supply list for the first day is:
- Pencil and eraser
- 3 pencil crayons or crayons (with a sharpened point), one yellow, one red, one blue.  Can be student quality.
- A 1-1.5" binder for handouts
- 5 photographs you plan to use, or have used, to create a painting
- 3 paintings, either completed or in progress (OPTIONAL)
