ART CRITIQUES!
The critiques are still free!  On the last Monday of each month from 7-9pm, artists are invited to bring a selection of their original visual art work to the City of Langley Library 20399 Douglas Crescent (across from Opus) to participate in art critiques facilitated by local professional artist, Lalita Hamill.  It is a relaxed and supportive environment open to all ages and art appreciators.  You do NOT need to register beforehand.
The remaining sessions will be in April, May, Sept, Oct & Nov 2010.
This evening is sponsored by the Langley Arts Council.  Please call Lalita at 604-882-1214 for more information.
Join us again for 2010!
Description: Artists are invited to bring a selection of their original art work and receive constructive feedback from a professional artist as well as the group.  We will begin our enquiry into the art of critiquing by developing a language for speaking about artwork critically and in a way that makes a difference.  Whether you have a work of art in progress and are wondering how to proceed, or a completed work that you would like feedback on, these sessions will be a wonderful opportunity to learn about art, improve your eye, and learn more about evaluating art.  All of this is meant to be accomplished in a fun, supportive environment.  This is an evening for artists to get together and discuss art in a meaningful way.  Our goal is that you will walk away feeling inspired!

Words from the Langley Arts Council:
"Arts Critic Lalita Hamill Breaks for Baby"
After two years of offering Langley artists critiques of their artwork, artist Lalita Hamill is taking a break, be it a short one, to have a baby. After considering giving this program a three month break while Lalita tends to her newest little development, both the artist and the Langley Arts Council felt that due to the popular demand of this program, it would be less than ideal to interrupt the rhythm for those who are so dedicated. So, during Lalita’s three month break other artists have been found to fill this popular artist’s shoes.
This program is so popular that artsts have travelled from Vancouver to be a part of this two hour session. The reason for it’s popularity is the combination of the old supply-versus-demand, as well as the unique warmth of the environment, thanks to Lalita’s direction. Not only do Lalita’s experiences providing workshops in Langley and through the Federation of Canadian Artists lend itself to these critiques, her holistic approach to the artist as a whole person provides a very personal experience. It takes a special person to offer up criticism that enables the recipient to learn while also feeling safe at the same time.
So for all the hard work, the Langley Arts Council would like to extend a warm and heart-felt “Thank you”, to Lalita, for doing such a great job at running this program.
