Commission Price Information
A commission of Lalita's art ranges in price between $350 to $5,000, depending on the medium used, the complexity of the piece, the size of the piece, and the number of subjects. Drawings are approximately 2/3 the cost of paintings.  Media used in drawings include graphite pencil, powdered graphite, charcoal, pen and conte.  Lalita specializes in painting with oil, acrylic and watercolour.

Since Lalita works primarily from sketches done while observing the subject(s) in real life, all commissions include two "sittings" and one roll of 24 reference photos taken by Lalita.  If the subject is not available for Lalita to meet & sketch (perhaps the commission is to be a gift, or is of a loved one who has passed on), Lalita can work from photographs provided by you, the client.  If sufficient photographs are available, Lalita will take 20% off the original price.
Professional-quality media and materials are used for all original pieces.
Provincial Sales Tax (7%) may be applicable (except for murals, chalkboards, teaching, and the like).
All commissions require a deposit of 50% of the total, to be put towards the final purchase.
A scan and subsequent copies are available upon request.  Many past clients have spent an extra $75 -$150 (or so) and in so doing provided family members and friends with a copy of the commission to be treasured by many.
Packaging and shipping costs to be arranged upon request.
Matting is also available: size, colour and cost to be arranged.
Artist's guarantee: I understand one's apprehension about buying something without being able to see the final product.  I am confident in my ability to create a commission that is right for you, so...if you don't like it, you don't have to buy it!  You pay only for materials used.
