Eva Markvoort
![]() This oil portrait of Eva (to the right) was given to her parents. 9"x12" oil on canvas.
65 Red Roses
The Federation of Canadian Artists unveiled a painting created by "65 of the most prestigious Canadian artists" in honour of Eva Markvoort. Eva suffered from cystic fibrosis, and received a double lung transplant. But her body rejected the organs, and she died on March 27 at the age of 25.
One can simply google '65 Red Roses' or Eva's name, and you will soon be touched by the film, you tube videos, blogs, and much more...all of it providing a window into the life of a young woman suffering from this terminal genetic disease.
In honour of Eva, 65 artists have each created an 8"x10" oil or acrylic painting containing one red rose. These will be assembled together for an event on May 15th. The final art will be donated to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and auctioned off by Maynards on June 16th, 2010. For more information visit www.maynards.com
Lalita is honoured to be a part of this gift on behalf of Eva and all the other young people suffering from cystic fibrosis.
UPDATE: This mural will soon hang in the Vancouver Children's Hospital! The poster of all 65 red roses has raised over $30,000 to date, and can be purchased for $65 from the CCFF (Canadian Cystic Fybrosis Foundation). For more information, please visit cfvancouver.ca/content/view/159/30/
![]() ![]() LOGO - Night to Light Walk 2006 - This logo was used on all T-shirts, posters, brochures and the like for this event.Thank you to all of you who sponsored Samera and I to be in this walk, and to those of you who donated money and time. Over 300 people particpated in the walk and celebrations. One of the highlights was watching a dozen young children from Uganda dance, sing and drum!
The walk has raised over $15,000 and there is a wonderful article in the Oct. 24th Langley Advance (you can see it onlline at www.langleyadvance.com).
Once again, this walk was organized by a 13-year old Langley resident named Gabrielle Starr in order to raise money to help over 40,000 kids escape being abducted by rebel armies. Lalita developed this logo, which represents these African children between the ages of 5 and 16 who walk up to 34 kms each day in order to have somewhere safe to sleep at night.
