WindSong showcases artist's debut solo show
What does getting to know one's neighbours have anything to do with art?  Well, when was the last time you heard of neighbours pulling together to send a gifted music prodigy to an elite music academy?  Or, more closer to home,  where would you find neighbours to provide live classical music, delectable treats,  and a 5000 square foot community center to host your solo art show?
That's what WindSong Cohousing Community offers: a better way to live. Just imagine neighbours sharing more, wasting  less and building enriching relationships through consensus, compassion and cooperation.
WindSong, just like an art show, needs to be experienced instead of described.
Several weeks ago, Micah Ringham, an exceptional young violinist, who is now at Interlochen Music Academy, had one key component of her fundraising to get there turn out to be a dream come true.  Lalita Hamill, a neighbour to the Ringham family, created a lovely oil painting of Micah at her violin which was previously shown in the August 25"' edition of the Times. Lalita gave tile painting up for auction with the charity funds earmarked to assist Micah on her scholastic journey.
Not only did an anonymous donor contribute $500 for the painting, the generous donor also GAVE the painting to the Ringham family. A beautiful win/win scenario.
On Saturday, October 16th from 1 to 4pm at 20543 96 avenue in Walnut Grove, be visually inspired by Lalita Hamill's debut art show entitled "Versatility".
Hear soulful, live classical music as you feel the ambience of a helpful community that truly needs to be experienced to be described.
Immerse yourself in the embryonic genius of Lalita's artwork that is sure to attract the interest of galleries and collectors everywhere as the delightful realism shines through her insightful portraits, creative illustrations, moving  painting, descriptive drawings and playful murals using a wide variety of media.  Admission is free.
"As an emerging artist and philosopher, my life's work has just begum.  Whether I'm working with oil paints, watercolour, powdered graphite or pencil, I have difficulty describing my work because each piece is the prototype of a new or different inspiration.  My versatility stems from a deep curiosity about form, subject, colour, texture, change, as well as a desire to discover, understand, create, and play.
Lalita continues: "A solo debut entails being vulnerable; and I plan to take it a step further by showing "works in progress" and by painting during the show.
"Living in an intentional community such as WindSong, as I have done for the past two years, is encouraging and enabling me to grow personally as well as artistically."
